About Me

Hello! My name is Charley and I write Cooke's Frontier.

This is me. And a tea kettle. Hi!!

This blog is about our transformation from ordinary, everyday, average people to self-sufficient, homesteading, DIY masters. We aren't there yet and have a long way to go, but we're on our way. One baby step at a time! You'll also find the recipes that I use and love here-and not just food. Lotion, home remedies, balms, soapmaking, home dairy and food, too. It's a real-time diary of my daily life.

Our chickens. Well, our chickens when they were chicks. They're not this cute anymore but they're almost old enough to lay eggs, so that makes up for it.

About me~ I've been married to my husband, bless his heart, for 10 years. We have 4 daughters and 2 of them are identical twins! We live in a small town in Oregon and dream of someday owning our "perfect" homestead.. We are simple, kind of old fashioned and some people say a little bit crazy. We have a whole herd of different animals, a big garden and we homeschool. Oh, and we love Jesus!

These are our milk cow. Lily is looking at you and Petunia is doing what she does best. Eating.

This blog is about our life and all that it brings us. It's an honest blog, it won't always be pretty or happy, but it will be real. I'm honest and I honestly love doing this.

This is Tip, our Border Collie. He's supposed to help herd the cows, but the only thing he manages to herd are the kids. Strengths: Guarding the truck. Weakness: Chasing Cats
